  • Criminal Litigation Practice
    Criminal litigation is the primary focus of Mr. Tegeler's practice. With nearly 13 years of experience in this area, he is able to provide a wide range of services to a diverse clientele depending on their individual needs. It is his goal to deliver the highest quality work and professionalism not only to his clients, but also to all parties involved in the litigation process.
    • Felony Matters
      Mr. Tegeler is experienced in all types of felony matters. In most circumstances, representation begins in the preliminary court room, preparing and arguing motions. Meanwhile a thorough investigation of the case continues until the State and Mr. Tegeler, with the clients' consent, agree to negotiations or set a trial date. He has handled several jury and bench trials in Kane County and many other counties. During his career, he has also handled many cases from misdemeanor/traffic matters to the most serious of felonies in Illinois, including successfully defending murder, rape, and major narcotics cases in both State and Federal court.
    • Juvenile Matters
      Over his years of experience, Mr. Tegeler has represented juveniles in both delinquency and abuse and neglect court. Mr. Tegeler understands that delinquency matters are usually the first encounter a juvenile will have with the Criminal Justice System. He strives to make it the last contact they will have with the Justice System by working with the juvenile, the parents, the State and the court in the minors' best interest. In abuse and neglect court, Mr. Tegeler has been appointed by the circuit court and has represented parents, Court Appointed Special Advocate, the minor and has been Guardian Ad Litem. He has tried several termination of Parental Rights cases representing a wide variety of people and organizations.
    • DUI
      If found guilty of DUI, the impact of losing a driver's license often has a domino effect. The client is not longer able to drive which often leads to other violations of the law. Mr. Tegeler's comprehensive DUI practice involves litigating statutory summary suspensions of driver's licenses and litigating DUI trials. The DUI practice includes investigating, arguing motions to suppress, securing driving relief, and trials, when necessary.
    • Secretary of State Hearings
      During the course of his career, Mr. Tegeler has argued many license reinstatement cases. He takes the client from the initial date of license revocation through and including reinstatement of driving privileges. With a large network of professional counseling services, Mr. Tegeler insures all evaluations, treatment verifications, after-care plans, discharge summaries, and the updated evaluations are correct and proper pursuant to the Secretary of State's Standards. His policy is to start a client at step one of the reinstatement procedure and work with them through and including full reinstatement.
    • Appellate Matters
      When requested to represent a client in the appeal process, Mr. Tegeler has had first hand experience practicing before the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Appellate and Supreme Court of Illinois. He has also argued cases before the Second and Third Appellate Court Districts in Illinois. Mr. Tegeler will file the appropriate motions and briefs in order to serve the best interest of his client.
    • Misdemeanor and Traffic
      Mr. Tegeler treats these cases, as seriously, as felony matters, understanding that this might be the clients first contact with the court system. He investigates, negotiates, and tries these cases with the client's best interest in mind.

    Mr. Tegeler handles a full range of Family Law matters, including contested and uncontested divorce, adoption, premarital agreements, legal separation, establishment and modification of child support, establishment and modification of child custody and visitation, cohabitation and domestic partnership documents, and paternity. He understands the many emotional issues surrounding Family Law matters and counsels.

    Mr. Tegeler has extensive experience representing people who have been injured by someone else, such as wrongful deaths, all types of motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, workers compensation, and all other negligent and intentional misconduct. He assists his clients in receiving the maximum possible compensation for their injuries, lost wages, and other damages.

    Mr. Tegeler represents both commercial clients and individuals in all proceedings and transactions that deal with real property land and the structures attached to it including purchase and sale agreements, construction, mortgages, foreclosures, leases, zoning, title examinations, quiet title actions, closings, and property management.
